Maggie’s Mutts Foundation (MMF) was created to honor the memory of Maggie Bonefas,... who loved every animal she ever met and was passionate about animal rescue. She generously volunteered for many local rescue groups in the Chicago area so she could “save them all.”
Rather than start a new rescue group, Maggie's dad Ed wanted to use his skills and experience in sales and relationship building to continue Maggie's legacy by supporting existing rescues and shelters. He founded MMF to assist partner rescues with volunteer recruitment, soliciting donations, and raising funds. Photo: Young Maggie's typical reaction to every animal she met. |
MissionThe Foundation helps provide volunteer and other resources to our partner animal rescue organizations to support the good work they are already doing. Our goal is to enable these groups to save and rehome more pets.
We believe that when animal rescue operations are freed from the need to raise funds, they can focus limited time and energy on their key competencies and expertise on identifying, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals, so they can save more animals as a result. Ultimately, Maggie’s Mutts Foundations seeks to build the capacity of animal rescue groups as we amplify their missions and voice. Photo: Maggie volunteering at a local rescue. |
